It's documented that back in 2006 when the remastering project was commissioned by Warners that the first remasters were awful, highly compressed and limited. I was listening to Closer over the weekend, and the track Heart & Soul in particular. Martin Hannetts production at the time was groundbreaking, and remastering from tape at 45rpm would "unlock" more depth from already excellent source material. Both albums would really benefit from a full audiophile treatment.
